We represent the femme who is searching for something unique, grounded by nature, and inspired by the world. She thrives from the rush of spontaneity, the spark of a human connection, and although she’s adventurous, her lifestyle is led by an ethical conscious that she adheres to as her personal responsibility.
Through high quality craftsmanship our products are created by sourcing recycled and refined silver and gold, and ethical gemstones. We are committed to making a positive difference on our planet through every human we interact with, every material we use, and our sustainable values that anchor the foundation of our brand and bring Devi Arts Collective to life!
Every aspect of Devi Arts Collective has been built by hand, responsibly sourced, and ethically produced. A major part of our collective is our family in Jaipur, India who cuts all of our gems for us by hand. With 9 brothers and sisters (and many more surrounding them) they’re a cooperative of 3rd generation gemstone fabrication artists that pride themselves on their massive family network of workers. Their operations are not only safe, with no child-labour, and fair wages, but every step of the process is mindful of the environment and responsible jewelry practices. For them this is their legacy that supports a future for their children, and is their calling as creative artisans.
Collaborating with this family and becoming a part of their network allows our jewelry to represent something larger than simply a fashion accessory. It allows us to be accountable for all our practices and produce a responsible product, with a clear impact as we work to strengthen our community and the greater world at large.
Meet Bayoush, the woman behind the collective
Bayoush had a dream, and with Devi Arts Collective her dream has been vivaciously brought to life!
She wanted to own her beauty and confidence, while shifting the perspective that responsibly made jewelry can also be accessible and affordable. She’s passionate about empowering women, lifting women up, and giving women a voice and the confidence they need to not only succeed, but thrive as they build upon their skills and pursue their inner passions. Through the responsible operations of Devi Arts Collective, her dedication to mentorship, and the heartwork that goes into each piece, she wants her jewelry to become a statement that allows the human wearing it to confidently express who they really are without having to say a word.
Bayoush has spent the last 20 years travelling the world being endlessly inspired by the beauty in everything! From the connection created in a simple conversation to her abstract interpretations of the patterns in nature to the texture on a door frame to the pattern on the floor, she is constantly absorbing every detail around her and using these moments to influence her creative process.
Many of her pieces pay homage to her proud Ethiopian background and the strength in her family heritage, while representing her ornate interpretation of the world and simple moments that show up in each piece she creates. She designs her jewelry to reflect function and form, while being strong, unique accessories that can enhance your every day.
The Devi Arts Collective philosophy
All of our jewelry, from concept to design, is produced by hand with recycled and refined gold and silver in our Vancouver studio and our gems are cut by our extended family in Jaipur, India. Every piece is created unique with a strength in quality and fine delicate details - it’s perfectly imperfect, which to us is the beauty in the handmade process.
We are solely committed to transparency and being mindful of our wearing environment. From our printed invoices, to our packaging and even the raw materials we use in our jewelry - including recycled silver and gold and 14kt gold-fill - every detail is created and sourced responsibly, ethically, and sustainably.
Connection is the foundation of our brand. We strive to be trailblazers in the slow fashion movement as we guide a path for the next generation of ambitious women and continue to expand our network within our community and the world.
